About Department
We, Mechanical Engineering Department started functioning in 1963 with an initial intake of 40 seats. Later in 1966 the intake was raised to 60. Department was given autonomy by Government of Maharashtra in 1994.
We offer three years diploma which is divided in six semesters. The curriculum is designed as per the feedback of stake holders. The conducive environment at Somaiya Vidyavihar, excellent indoor and outdoor facilities supplemented by industrial visits and expert lectures help our students to develop their overall personality. Greenery in campus, sports facilities help in shaping overall personality of students.

- Prepare the students to pursue life-long learning, serve the profession and meet intellectual, ethical and career challenges.
- To prepare the students for diverse careers in mechanical engineering and related fields.
- To provide students with a sound mechanical engineering education and application of mechanical engineering principles.
- To prepare students to be immediately productive and able to adapt to and lead in a rapidly changing environment and to create and apply knowledge for the benefit of society.
