Academic Bank Of Credits
K J Somaiya Polytechnic is among the few polytechnics who have successfully published the Credit Data
As per the National Educational Policy(NEP), the K J Somaiya Polytechnic, affiliated with Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) is integrating with the national Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), a digital platform for storing and transferring academic credits earned by students across different higher education institutions. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Education and the UGC, allows students to accumulate and redeem credits, promoting mobility and flexibility between courses and institutions, especially with the requirement for students to open an ABC account for admission to universities. K J Somaiya Polytechnic students will have their credits mapped to their unique APAAR ID, which can then be used to transfer credits to other institutions or redeem them as per the student's needs.
How it works for students
- Account creation: Students must register for a unique ABC ID through the official abc.gov.in website, often using DigiLocker with their own Aadhaar number.
- Credit storage: Once registered, the academic credits earned through MSBTE courses will be stored in the student's ABC account.
- Credit management: Students can view their accumulated credits, select specific credits for transfer or redemption, and initiate the transfer process to other institutions.
- Credit transfer: The ABC system allows students to transfer credits to other universities, eliminating the need to redo coursework if they move between institutions.
- Mandatory requirement: It is becoming mandatory for students to open an ABC account for admission to universities, making this an essential process for all students.
